Making it easier to search by age

Published: 23 January 2019

As  a result of user feedback, we are adding more age groups to our website to make it easier to find the most suitable activities, services and organisations for you and your family. As you are searching the website, you may see more age groups now appear under the “Age Group” filter. These appear to the left of search results on a computer and just above search results on a mobile.

The new ages

Until now, there were four age ranges which covered Early Years (0-5 years), Primary (5-11 years), Secondary (11-16 years) and Adults (16+ years). We are now expanding these further to cover years:

  • 0 to 1
  • 2 to 4
  • 5 to 7
  • 8 to 11
  • 12 to 15
  • 16 to 18
  • 19 to 25
  • 25 plus
  • All ages

Tip when searching

It will take some time for all of the thousands of activities, services and organisations on our website to have these new ages applied to them. Because of this, we recommend continuing to use the original four age groups or a combination of both the new age groups and old. This will ensure you do not exclude results from your searches during this transition.

You can see the number of results that match each age group is displayed in brackets. As of today (23 January 2019) there were 1,864 results that matched the "Early Years (0-5 Years)" group alone. This highlights the need to better enable our users to refine searches, after all, the needs of a newborn are very different from those of a 5-year-old.
