Video Launch - young peoples' activities found on the Local Offer
Published: 13 June 2017
The latest Local Offer video, produced by young people with SEND, was showcased to parents, young people, SEND organisations, special schools, Buckinghamshire County Council and local community members. The video was produced in partnership with Chiltern Wood Special School in High Wycombe, the Programmes Team within the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service and the Youth Service. It highlights some popular activities that the young people like to get involved in.
The young people who took part were presented with a certificate and the video was shown to everyone. More than 10 SEND organisations gave information to parents and young people and we had excellent feedback from people at the event.
One parent said: 'A very big THANK YOU to you and your team for presenting my son with the chance to be in such a brilliant film, but also for the extremely generous gift and certificate! My son is thrilled, and we are very proud parents. It is things like this that have a HUGE impact on the lives of our SEN children, and I pray going forward that your department will organise such opportunities and events. Once again, thank you so much!'
Some of the young people told us:
'I was really excited to see myself on the TV it was like I was famous!'
'We had so much fun being a part of the film.'
'We would like to say thank you for the vouchers we can’t wait to show our families.'
Thanks to SENDIAS, Buckinghamshire Family Information Service, Reflexologist, Prevention Matters, Aylesbury College, Bucks Brokerage and Directs Payments team, Active In, Kuradocs, Marlow Football Club and Chiltern Music Therapy and all the young people who took part.
