Published: 20 July 2017

If you have applied for 30 hours childcare and are wondering how do I get my code? Where do I access my account? Or How do I update my details? Then here are the simple steps to take to view your account and receive your 30 hours code.

Not applied yet? Check you eligibility at

Accessing your account and getting your code

Step 1: Visit the childcare service webpage

Step 2: From the webpage you will see there are 5 links, click “4. Apply or sign in to the childcare service as a parent”.

Step 3: You will now see a paragraph of information explaining the application process. Below this paragraph you should see a green button that says “Apply or sign in to your account”

Step 4: You will then be asked to answer questions about your youngest child’s age before being asked to sign in using your Government Gateway ID (which you will have received when you applied).

Step 5: You will now see the homepage of your childcare service account. Click on the 30 hours childcare option to see your 30 hours eligibility code. These normally start with “500”.

From the homepage you can also:

    • access “secure messages”
    • view or update your details
    • access a Tax-Free Childcare account
    • reconfirm your code (done every 3 months)
    • submit a new application
    • update your security details such as your password and security questions

Note: A small number of parents may have a temporary code, starting “11…” This would have been given to you over the phone, if you have one of these codes then you should receive a letter containing this from HMRC.
