Family Support Service | Family Centres Update 3 September 2020

Published: 03 September 2020

Over September the Family Support Service will begin to provide face to face support in a variety of settings including within family centres and family homes where families have an allocated worker. To manage this we will be taking a gradual approach to resuming our support, which is detailed below.

7 to 18 September 2020

Family Centre Plus sites will re-open for drop-in advice, support and guidance. This will be on an appointment-only basis. Appointments can be arranged by emailing the Family Centre Plus site or by calling the BFIS duty team (see contact details below). Children, young people and families with allocated family workers will be contacted to arrange face-to-face visits. We will consider individual circumstances and COVID-19 safety.

Youth Drop-ins from 14 September at the following centres

Appointments will not be required, but we will be asking visitors to answer a short questionnaire before entering the building.  Each of the drop-ins will be from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

21 September and 2 October 2020

Universal group sessions, including parenting groups, will start again. The number of attendees and sessions we are able to run will be managed to comply with health and safety measures to keep everyone safe. Booking is required for all sessions and these should be arranged by emailing the Family Centre Plus site for the area or by calling or by calling the BFIS duty team (see contact details below).

Universal sessions for each centre will be detailed within the centre’s timetable.

Before any home visit, our workers will be asking health-related questions to ensure it is safe for us to meet with you. We will also discuss with you and ensure we provide clear information about any measure to be in place and anything we need you to do to make sure everyone remains safe and well, minimising the risk of COVID-19.
