Youth Club | Young People with ASD (Chalfont St Peter)

Coronavirus status: CLOSED

Holds a weekly session for young people with ASD.

The club is aimed at young people from Year 5 to Year 8 approximately and has been successfully running for around 2 years. It aims to provide a safe and calmer environment for young people who wish to socialise but perhaps struggle to cope with larger, louder environments.

The sessions are supervised by trained adults but benefit enormously from a team of trained young volunteer helpers. These helpers are on hand for each session to interact with the young people attending, encouraging play and social skills by modelling behaviour.

The youth club has a state of the art, fenced outdoor AstroTurf sports court enabling the young people to play football, basketball and more. Also air hockey, pool, table football, arts, craft and Lego are available at each session.

The youth centre is the holder of the Queen's Award, the MBE for voluntary services which it received in 2013.
