ASD Post Diagnostic Workshops | Buckinghamshire CAMHS

Post diagnostic workshops runs by CAMHS (Buckinghamshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service).

Why parents and not the child?

ASD is a condition which affects the way your child views the world and not something that can be ‘fixed’ by the child seeing a doctor or a therapist. The parents are supported in being able to understand their child’s condition, differences and behaviours. Some parents have found it very helpful to bring grandparents along to the workshops.

Who else will be there?

You will be in a group of up to 20 other parents who also have children with an ASD diagnosis. Parents who have attended these workshops often tell us that just being in a room with other people who understood their challenges was supportive in itself.

What happens in the workshop?

The workshop is a mixture of teaching, discussion and group tasks. You will not be forced to say or do anything you feel uncomfortable with. The setting is very informal and relaxed.
