Early Years Local Offer Response

1. What recent SEND specific training has been completed by practitioners in the setting?

CACHE Level 3 Diploma in home-based childcare

Paediatric First Aid in Childcare

Safeguarding Children for all

Supporting children with speech, Language and communication needs

2. How are parents involved at the setting and how can I be involved?

I work in partnership with parents sharing information about their child's learning, development and progress on a regular basis in a way that suits them. I ask parents to share information about their child's likes and dislikes, the activities which they find difficult and those which they enjoy the most. I aim to ensure that activities are extended to support children to meet their potential within the setting and share ideas with parents.

3. How will practitioners work with me to share information about my child's progress? What is additional for children with SEND?

I observe and assess all children and where there is a particular need, i support the preparation and implementation of a joint action plan for the child. With parents' permission we may involve other services.

4. What specialist services and expertise are available at, or accessed by the setting?

As with all registered childminders in Buckinghamshire, I have a key contact within the early years' service from whom I can access advice and information.

My contact is Denise Evans, Early Years Consultant

I am keen to expand my knowledge and expertise. I will undergo further training when it is required.

5. How accessible is the setting's environment (indoors and outdoors)?

Our home is accessible to most children and families, although we do not currently have ramps for wheelchair access. These could easily be put in if needed.

We are also on a regular bus route for those needing public transport.

6. What are the transition arrangements for supporting children and families?

When children arrive I encourage families to complete an 'All About Me' form and provide any special comforters the child might need.

I encourage parents to have some 'settling in visits' with their child prior to starting.

7. What future plans does your setting have for developing its SEND?

I am aware of the need for flexibility within my setting to ensure that children's needs can be met. I will access training where necessary. I keep updated with new guidance from the local authority.
