Housing Debt Advice Team Buckinghamshire Council (Aylesbury Area)
The Housing Debt Advice team at Buckinghamshire Council (Aylesbury Area) provides comprehensive and specialist debt and money advice to those who live or work in the Aylesbury Vale area. The service has been running for over 25 years and the main objective is to prevent homelessness by negotiating with social landlords, private landlords and mortgage lenders. They can also help with court paperwork to vary existing court orders, apply for stay hearings where a warrant of eviction has been issued as well as provide court representation at possession hearings.
Our interventions also include help to maximise income by applying for charitable payments, help to claim welfare benefits and advice on reducing expenditure. We produce a standard financial statement which can be used to negotiate affordable repayment plans with all priority and non-priority creditors.
The team are all fully qualified Money Advisers and members of the Institute of Money Advisers and have to undertake regular training to maintain their CPD points.
They are approved Intermediaries for the Insolvency Service and process Debt Relief Orders for eligible clients.
The service can be accessed by those that are threatened with homelessness by telephoning the Housing Triage Team on 01296 585168 or complete an online form via the self-referral portal.
