Local Offer

Description

In my setting every child is treated as an individual and any concerns about the children would be flagged up immediately to the parents. Parents are also encouraged to discuss concerns with me, confidentially. Every child is viewed as ‘unique’ therefore I plan for your child’s development based on observations of your child and evidence gained for their Learning Journal.

Settling in sessions are encouraged to allow the child and parent to familiarise themselves with me and my environment. I always promote positive behaviour and any behaviour issues will be dealt with immediately which keeps consistency between the home and childcare setting. More details can be found in my policies which are available to you during a visit.

You Said We Did

I will provide care of children with SEND with the support of the parents and relevant organisations. I am willing to attend training and briefing sessions to further my knowledge when necessary

Early Years Local Offer Response

1. What recent SEND specific training has been completed by practitioners in the setting?
  • Looking at Autism as a fruit salad
  • Inclusion level 3 Lazer learning
  • Managing behaviour (Laser learning)
  • Mental health workshop
  • Autism workshop
2. How are parents involved at the setting and how can I be involved?

Parents and children are involved in the planning and learning. There views and the children’s interest and strengths and weaknesses are taken into consideration when planning. We continually looks at and update the children’s next steps through Tapestry an online learning system. Each child is planned for individually and set achievable goals but with high expectations.

3. How will practitioners work with me to share information about my child's progress? What is additional for children with SEND?

I work closely with other settings depending on the child’s needs I would set up an individual plan with parents and any other agencies that are involved with the child. MASH

4. What specialist services and expertise are available at, or accessed by the setting?

I have experience of autism as my own daughter is autistic. I have an on-site of EHCP as I have had first hand experience. I did all the paperwork and took control of my daughter EHCP.

5. How accessible is the setting's environment (indoors and outdoors)?

My setting is on the ground floor. There are steps at the entrance to the property and to the garden. But temporary ramps could be fitted. I have a large downstairs toilet area, the toilet has a step and a raised seat could be fitted as could grab handles.

6. What are the transition arrangements for supporting children and families?

I offer as many translation visits as needed free of charge. I start visits as soon as possible to insure a smooth transition. I do starting points with the parents from day one so that I can effectively gage exactly where the child is in there learning. If applicable I would obtain a copy of the 2 year progress report to see where the child’s learning is. We would discuss any additional needs that the child may have, what has been put in place already. We would then make a plan for future goals and next steps trying to bridge the gaps that they might have in there learning. If a child is exceeding the expected levels then a plan would be put in place to extend there knowledge outwards as well as upwards to consolidate there learning.

7. What future plans does your setting have for developing its SEND?

To continue to update my own practice by attending different courses. To be as inclusive as possible.
