Early Years Local Offer Response

1. What recent SEND specific training has been completed by practitioners in the setting?

Daniella Blacow has completed a level 3 SENCo training course

2. How are parents involved at the setting and how can I be involved?
  • We build parent / practitioner relationships and include them with their child's development by hosting parent consultations. We also complete informal handovers via EYlog, e-mail and face to face.
  • We encourage parents to come for the first initial settling session so we can learn more about the family set up as a whole oppose to just the child.
  • We encourage parents to upload observations from home to support us with our planning to ensure it is based around individuals interests.

3. How will practitioners work with me to share information about my child's progress? What is additional for children with SEND?
  • We complete relevant assessment for all children within the setting including; 2 year checks, end of year progress reports, 3 monthly assessments, transition reports between rooms and transitional reports when children leave the setting to start school / other settings
  • If we have a concern regarding the needs of an individual child, staff will communicate with the SENCo who will work with the key person to set goals for the child to work on. This will be reviewed and amended as and when. (It is also know as a APDR Access, Plan, Do, Review)
4. What specialist services and expertise are available at, or accessed by the setting?
  • We are signed up to Makaton and receive a sign a week and encourage children to use these within the setting.
  • We welcome outside agencies such as speech and language and Buckinghamshire Early Years Services to support the development of both children and the setting.
6. What are the transition arrangements for supporting children and families?
  • When children move to each room within the setting a transition document is complete and shared from the previous key person to the new key person.
  • When children move from our setting to school we welcome teachers to come in and observe them and communicate with us. We encourage parents to allow us to share information regarding development. We complete a transition report to go to their new teachers.
  • When children move to another setting we welcome their practitioners to approach us and share information, we also complete a transition report for their new setting.
