I have been childminding for 21 years, I am fully inclusive child care service and a member of BCCN (Buckinghamshire Community Childminding Network) I am committed to providing flexible quality care for children and young people with additional needs within my home.
I have varied training and experience in caring for children with down syndrome, Autism and Cerebral Palsy and will undertake additional training if it is needed. I work closely with parents and where appropriate other professionals/agencies to support each child to reach their full potential.
I work closely with parents gaining information regarding their child's routine, any concerns about their child's development, likes, dislikes and discuss with parents and/or other professionals to create a support plan to ensure that all their individual needs are being met.
I regularly observe, monitor and assess all children and this information is made available through their learning journeys. I encourage parents to discuss their child's progress and put into place if any further support if needed.
For all children to progress at their own rate through ongoing assessments, next steps which to include their child's needs and interests. Ensuring they can assess all areas of my provision.
Trips and outings both daily and school holidays, for example, Library, soft play are fully risked assessed by both parents and childminder. Welcoming into my setting any other professionals to work alongside childminder to develop where necessary individual plans to support your child's needs.
My main rooms are on one level with a small step into my toilet and out into my garden. My outdoor area is on one level and backs onto a farmland. I have mark making activities around my garden as well as an assortment of sit and ride toys, water, sand. My toys and resources are labelled and I have a resource book of toys that are stored over the farm. I have a mud kitchen and plastic climbing playground. We have both grass and patio area which is shaded that the children can use. When visiting the farm we can use a small ride in wagon or short walk to see chickens and horses. Outdoor area has recently been updated.
I have a open door policy and welcome parents to discuss their child's development at any time. Parents can also text me or email me during the evenings if more convenient. Assessments that I complete once/twice a term are used to identify any additional support that may be needed. I have very detailed procedures and policies that are available to parents at any time that support your child's well being. I am an all inclusive provision and encourage close relationships with the children to ensure they feel valued and supported. I provide a weekly newsletter for parents and home diaries for each child.
I have completed Makaton Foundation course and had specialist training in tube feeding but am available to attend any additional training to support your child. I regularly review my toys and resources to ensure they support activities within the Early Years Foundation Stage. I will discuss with parents if extra equipment is required and will apply for grants to purchase these.
