No personal information that you give to the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service will be passed on to third parties for commercial purposes.

The Buckinghamshire Family Information Service reserves the right, where permitted by law, to share information amongst its own officers and other agencies where doing so will help improve the services provided by the council and assist in the development of other services.

If you contact the service by email, phone or social media your information will be stored securely in our system so that we can provide a service to you.  You can request that your information is removed at any time by contacting the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service.  

If you choose to create an account on the BFIS website your details will be stored securely in our system and will not be shared.  If you create a record to promote your service, organisation or event, you will have control of the information that is published on the website. Only publically-available information will be shared and you can delete your record or request to delete your user account at any time. Read the full Terms and Conditions.

What information will you hold?

Providers who register their services on the BFIS website will be asked to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Mobile number
  • Ofsted registration number (where applicable)
  • Email
  • Description of service which could include information about yourself

Registered Account Users will be asked to provide the following information:

  • First name
  • Surname
  • Email Address

Customers who contact the service by phone, email, or social media may be asked for the following information so that we can provide a service to you. You can request that this information is not stored at the time of the conversation or this can be removed anytime at the request of the client by emailing

  • Client first name
  • Client surname
  • Client address details
  • Client contact telephone numbers
  • Email address
  • Gender (optional)
  • Ethnic Origin (optional)
  • Employment status (optional)
  • Description of the circumstances and information requested

If you choose to create a record for Pinpoint, the Disabled Children's Register you will be asked information about yourself, the young person with SEND and their condition. You can delete the record at any time.

Early Years Providers are required to provide information about their employees in order to enable the Early Years’ Service to fulfil their duty under Section 13 of the 2006 Childcare Act to provide Information, Advice and Training to childcare providers. In addition, we also use this information to inform the training and bursary programmes and to report on the state of the local childcare workforce in the annual Childcare Sufficiency Assessment, as required in Section 11of the said Act. The address and date of birth are used only to ensure we can create a unique person record for each employee.  The information is submitted via the staff portal and can also be downloaded and used by the setting as the single central record.  The information will be treated in accordance with our privacy policy. The provider should ensure that the information is kept up to date and records are deleted when a staff member leaves the organisation.

Only information that has been reviewed and cleared for release will be published on the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service website.

The website is owned and operated by Buckinghamshire Council and is protected by copyright owned in whole or in principal part by the council. You may download information for personal reference, research or information purposes only.

Download, distribution and/or alteration of any information or data from council websites by any third party for their local use is permitted as long as this copyright is kept intact and appended to any data downloaded. Any other distribution of copies of the information or any altered version thereof is expressly prohibited without prior written consent of a senior officer of the council.

Use of any logo, graphics or graphical device or picture in any form or media after downloading from the council website is prohibited without the express written permission of the council.

The council does not grant permission for any use whatsoever (other than local display on the screen of the downloading equipment) for any information or data for which the council does not own the copyright.
