The Summer Reading Challenge 2020 | Silly Squad

Buckinghamshire libraries have launched their 2020 Summer Reading Challenge, Silly Squad, digital offer on Saturday 11 July.

'Silly Squad' is a celebration of funny books, happiness, and laughter, featuring artwork from award-winning children's author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson. This challenge will run until 29 August to fit in with the summer holidays. They are not having any hard copy or medals but will signpost children to the exciting resources on the Reading Agency website:

There are no set “rules” (no 6 book challenge, certificates or medals etcetera). Children are encouraged to do anything that encourages reading in the broadest sense – reading anything, comics, drawing pictures, all on “Silly Squad them

The digital challenge platform will include a safe sign-up process.  Parents/carers can sign their children can sign up for the new digital Summer Reading Challenge platform on the summer challenge website. They can set their reading goal, find book recommendations, and access tons of fun resources.

There will also be information on how to find their local library service and access e-lending. There is also be a forum to chat with friends, play games, download and print activities, as well as family activities with rewards and unlockable content to keep children and families engaged throughout the summer months. The platform will be FREE for children and families to use.
