Working at Thrift Farm | Video
Thrift Farm is a working farm providing opportunities for disabled people post 19. This video will be a part of a series to demonstrate the day options for disabled young people once they reach 19.
Leaving school is a scary time and a big change. For those with SEND, it can be even more daunting and an anxious time for their family too. Young people from specialist educational settings have said that their main worries were around the new environments, new people, and losing specialist care that they may be used to.
Buckinghamshire SEND Post 16 provision aims to maintain this help and support for young people in education as well as aiding more opportunities for employment and independent living. The videos below share the experiences of young people in Bucks who have moved into post 16 education such as college.

A tour by Laura, Caitlin and Michael who are in their first year of entry-level skills for work, and Tyler who is studying Health and Social Care at Aylesbury College. The students share their feelings and experiences of going to college.

A tour by Rose-Anne who is studying Health and Social Care at Amersham and Wycombe College, Flackwell Heath Campus. Rose-Anne tells us her story of how she started off at entry level and built up her Maths and English skills to join a mainstream college course.
Community Learning: Road Safety Training at TalkBack | Video
In this film we follow a road safety awareness session with TalkBack. We hear from the staff about the importance of learning basic skills such as walking across a busy road and the success stories of the young people who have attended.
Community Learning with Macintyre | Video
In this film we follow a variety of sessions that Macintyre offer including cooking, healthy living and lego therapy. Students share their stories on how Macintyre has helped with their independent living skills and the staff share their knowledge and passion for the work they do.
Therapies in Education | Video
his film explores the therapies that are offered on the college site. We hear from a physiotherapist, music therapist and Speech and language therapists, we are also invited in to see therapy sessions in action. Therapists tell us about how they support students in college and how young people can access their service.
Residential Placement at Astor Lodge | Video
A tour of Aster Lodge, supported living service for young people aged 16 and over. We hear from staff about how the service supports young adults put into practice the independent living skills they have learned at college. We also see the residents preparing dinner together while telling us about their lives outside of Aster Lodge.
